Our Curriculum
How the children learn
The children learn through play at this stage in their development, therefore the Nursery is organised into areas of learning; to provide a busy and interesting day consisting of a variety different activities for the children. The children are encouraged to select materials and equipment for themselves and to tidy away independently as this helps them become more responsible. By being allowed to make choices about what they do, how they do it and to what purpose, the children individually learn what interests them most. The key-workers' role extends their learning, to help develop ideas, to encourage investigation and problem solving. The Nursery team plans a topic programme each term. This ensures that all curriculum areas are covered. The team also meets weekly to discuss the children's development and to plan for the following week. During your child's time at the Nursery, there will be a number of open days/evenings where you will be invited to discuss her/his progress. In addition to this you are welcome to make an appointment to see your child's key-worker at any time to talk about any concerns you may have. Please share information about your child's development and interests at home as this is highly valued by us and assists us to build up a full picture of his/her progress. |
